Thanks Alex! That’s some great info on the headshake fix and cool that you figured yours out.

Thanks for the write up. I have a ’13 690 and love it. It’s built to the hilt and very capable for partying in the woods. I got to the point with the head shake that I was going to sell the bike if I couldn’t take care of that issue. Well, after trying a number of things I finally won the battle and the 690 and I will be friends for many more years. The solution for me was to dump the bead lock that I had installed on the front and swap to a different tire. The bead lock hole was drilled on the rim on the same side as the valve stem and it required a ton of weights to counter and get it balanced. All that weight spinning around though still would gang up and cause a high speed wobble even with it balanced the best my local shop could get it. So I removed the bead lock all together (along with all the weights) and swapped a Heidenau Scout front tire on there and it was all good on my last trip to the Sierras even over 90 mph. There’s a chance I could have mounted the beadlock on the opposite side of the rim as the valve stem and that could have helped. Also I could have possible kept my knobby front tire but I was just over messing with tires and the whole issue so I went big and it was problem solved. I’ll put on another knobby at some point but for now the bike is killer and still totally capable. Hopefully this might be able to help someone else who is facing this issue. FWIW I tried lowering the front forks and that didn’t change the wobble at all. Cheers, Alex
